My Favorite Defunct Brands: d.i.a

Welcome to the second post in the My Favorite Defunct Brands series. If you haven't read the first post yet, I encourage you to read it to understand why I started writing about defunct brands. Today, I am going to write about d.i.a, also known as d.i.a spec and Songeur d.i.a, a Japanese fashion brand founded in 2002. At its core, d.i.a was all about embracing a bold and cool aesthetic, evident in every aspect of their designs. This brand’s garments achieved the look and feel of their desired aesthetic through the design of their clothes. The accents that d.i.a used to design their clothes are what makes the brand unique. Typical d.i.a clothes utilize black, white, and gold colors, adding extravagance with flashy gold chains, buttons, and gems. Faux fur and animal prints were also prominent features, adding an edgy and daring flair to their designs. d.i.a’s shorts are extremely short, and their jeans are dark washed and ripped to give the wearer a badass and confident feel.   The thing I hate most about going into any place that sells clothes these days is the clothes. Whether it be Walmart, a small boutique, or a larger known retailer like H&M or Francesca’s, I leave the store being disappointed. This is because the clothes are what I call “mass produced garbage”. A little over a month ago I ordered the perfect spring outfit. I ordered a light green sleeveless top with a tutu-like ruffle on the bottom hem, and a pink jacquard Axes Femme midi skirt with pink buttons, and pink ribbons zig zagging across the front panels. The third part of my order was a purple blouse with the whimsical detailing that you would want to see in a spring outfit. The only problem was that it wasn’t the perfect outfit. The pink midi skirt was a brown midi skirt and my green top never showed up. Sadly the perfect spring outfit wasn’t meant to be…😔 I absolutely loved the silhouette of the skirt, but a brown midi skirt didn’t match anything I had or was planning to add to my wardrobe. The color didn’t even look good with the purple top that I had ordered specifically to be worn with the skirt. Before bed, as I was making a request to return the skirt (which was a pain in the neck by the way! My first experience returning an item on Depop was a nightmare) I remembered that
