d.i.a Inspired Cami

Image
I’m coming to realize that if I just keep sitting around and waiting for an opportunity to take cute photos to come, I’ll never end up posting about the garments that I’ve made. Hence this post. I made this top a few weeks ago. I took inspiration from the brand d.i.a and the “bold” style from the Style Savvy series. Specifically, I was inspired by d.i.a’s use of big buttons. The big buttons make the garments look more extra and high maintenance.  I’m very happy with how this top came out! I made it using my orange Liz Lisa cami as a pattern.

Brand Appreciation: Michell Macaron

My introduction to the world of fashion came via the game Style Savvy Styling Star. In this game there were thirteen different styles. These styles are preppy, basic, gothic, feminine, chic, rock, psychedelic, baby doll, girly, lively, boho-chic, eastern, and bold. Among these, my top three preferences are girly, feminine, and bold. Girly fashion exudes a delicate and cute aesthetic, bold fashion embraces animal prints and flashy embellishments for a "baddie" look, while feminine fashion achieves a ladylike balance between dressy and doll-like. When I want to buy girly clothes, I look for old Liz Lisa items or Mellfy Memory pieces. When I want to wear bold clothes, I make my own pieces inspired by the brand d.i.a. Despite loving the feminine style I possess only one item that is considered feminine—a secondhand blue Emiria Wiz dress. Rather than indulging in more purchases, I've opted to express my admiration through an appreciation post dedicated to a feminine brand.

My Kind of Fall Fashion

Image
Long time no see! I’ve been pretty busy this month, but this weekend I set aside some time to vibe at Panera wearing my cutest fall outfit while writing and listening to lofi music. I have to say hanging out at Panera for a few hours on the weekend to get work done has really been great for my psyche. I made a new friend and ran into some people I know. But this post isn’t about Panera lol. I was scrolling through Pinterest a week ago when I came across a scan of an image, which I presume is from an old Liz Lisa catalog, with the words “this is my kind of fall fashion”. It goes without saying that this post represents my kind of fall fashion. This post gave me the idea to write about my personal taste in fall fashion, rather than simply write a general guide to the fall seasonal aesthetic. No other fall collection pulls my heartstrings more than the Liz Lisa 2010 autumn/winter collection. I wll be using scans from the mook that went along with that collection as visuals. You can

Valentines Day Top

Hello fashionistas! If you read my last post, you know that I want to write about more of the garments I’ve made. While doing this I realized that I actually never shared an item I made that is older than this top, and I actually have some good pictures of it from my school’s club expo! This is what my peers nicknamed “The Barbie Top”: My inspiration for making this tops was Valentines Day. I had seen a Valentines Day photo shoot someone did on Instagram, and was inspired to design a Valentine’s Day outfit that would make a girl feel confident and beautiful. To add some femininity to the design, I gave it a circle sleeve. I also wanted the top to make the wearer feel alluring, which is why the top only has one shoulder covered. In my drawing I designed the top to be worn with a red skirt. I attempted to create the skirt I designed, however, my fabric choice was poor and I didn’t really know how to achieve and communicate the design I was going for, so that skirt ended up becoming a fai
