Valentines Day Top

Hello fashionistas! If you read my last post, you know that I want to write about more of the garments I’ve made. While doing this I realized that I actually never shared an item I made that is older than this top, and I actually have some good pictures of it from my school’s club expo!
This is what my peers nicknamed “The Barbie Top”:
My inspiration for making this tops was Valentines Day. I had seen a Valentines Day photo shoot someone did on Instagram, and was inspired to design a Valentine’s Day outfit that would make a girl feel confident and beautiful. To add some femininity to the design, I gave it a circle sleeve. I also wanted the top to make the wearer feel alluring, which is why the top only has one shoulder covered. In my drawing I designed the top to be worn with a red skirt. I attempted to create the skirt I designed, however, my fabric choice was poor and I didn’t really know how to achieve and communicate the design I was going for, so that skirt ended up becoming a failed project. I might retry creating it in the future. This time with better fabric and a commercial pattern instead of winging it.
Writing about this too makes me want to start drawing more Valentine’s Day designs. 💕
